Volunteer Speedway Debut On Deck For Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series
Bryan Hulbert – BULLS GAP, Tenn. (May 10, 2021) Looking at a brand-new stop for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the tour will be at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn. on Saturday, May 15 for the $4,000 to win, $400 to start, Tennessee Spring Nationals.
At four-tenths of a mile in length, the track will feature the highest banks of any surface the tour races on in 2021, with the turns boasting 32-degrees of banking. Primarily a Late Model track, this weekend is one of only two Winged Sprint Car events at Volunteer Speedway in 2021.
Forty previous events since 1994, Volunteer Speedway is the eighth Tennessee track to host a National Tour event. The last trip to Tennessee came on August 27, 2017, at Smokey Mountain Speedway with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. taming the high-banked oval.
Rolling in from Michigan, the chase for the top championship has a new leader. Claiming his first win of the 2021 season at I-96 Speedway, Oklahoma’s Matt Covington has taken over the point with Blake Hahn’s runner-up finish, likewise putting him second in driver standings.
Only six points separating the two going into this weekend; neither have breathing room as J.J. Hickle sits only 13 markers from retaking the point’s lead. Dylan Westbrook sits fourth, with Seth Bergman moving into the top five. Scott Bogucki is sixth, with Ryan Bickett seventh. Colby Thornhill, Devon Borden, and Travis Reber make up the top ten.
Saturday, May 15 at Volunteer Speedway opens at 5:00 P.M. with cars on track at 7:00 P.M. (EDT). Grandstand admission is $25 for adults and free for kids 10 and under. Adult Pit-Tier Parking is $40, Youth (5-12) is $20, and kids four and under are free. Saturday’s card also includes Street Stocks, Sportsman Late Models, and Crate Late Models.
Volunteer Speedway is located at 14095 W. Andrew Johnson Hwy. in Bulls Gap, Tenn. Information on the track can be found at http://www.volunteerspeedway.com or by calling (423) 444-2907. The track is on Social Media at https://www.facebook.com/VolunteerSpeedway.
