Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (May 30, 2019) – Jamie Ball capped last weekend by earning a top-five finish at Lake Ozark Speedway during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader.
It was a strong finish to a weekend that began on Saturday with the White Lightning Motorsports driver finishing eighth in a heat race. That relegated him to a B Main, in which he finished seventh, forcing him to use a provisional to start the feature from 23rd. He maneuvered his way to a 15th-place result.
“Saturday night was full of ups and downs,” he said. “A less than favorable draw and a talent filled heat race put us behind the eight ball. We never quit working on making our car better and we utilized a provisional for the A Main. We were able to start 23rd and work our way up to 15th. At the end of the night we felt we had a much better package going into Sunday's program.”
Ball rebounded on Sunday with a heat race win after starting third. That garnered a trip into the feature redraw, where he drew the fourth starting position for the main event. After 30 laps Ball earned his fourth top-five finish of the season with a fifth-place outing.
“We had a great start to the night advancing from third to first in our heat race,” he said. “The 30-lap A Main was full of both positives and negatives. We got right to second on the start and raced for the lead the first half of the race before settling in third. I truly feel I made 25 good laps out of the 30 laps. However, there were five laps where I lost my focus and overdrove the car. I think that if I can clean up my race, hit my marks and keep my composure that there would have been a better outcome.
“I really have to thank my dad, Jody, Josh and Rob for all the hard work, sacrifice and belief they have in me. Also I have to thank my mom, my fiancée, Jacee, and the Wren's for all their support. This year is starting off well and we can’t wait for Mother Nature to cooperate so we can really get to racing.”
Ball’s next race is the opening round of the Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek, which begins on Saturday at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas.
