Inside Line Promotions – LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (May 23, 2019) – Harli White earned her first two top 10s of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season last weekend during her debut at I-96 Speedway.

“It was a good weekend,” she said. “The draw is a big thing and we had enough cars to have a qualifier. We drew decent and were able to go forward. We’re consistently finishing well.”

The doubleheader started on Friday with White maneuvering from fifth to third place in a heat race. She then placed second in a qualifier to rank seventh in overall points out of more than 40 competitors. That lined her up seventh in the A Main.

“I made a lot of mistakes throughout the A Main on both Friday and Saturday,” she said. “I ran off the back straightaway and cost myself time and positions. Once you fall off it takes you forever to get back on. You’d lose two or three positions at a time and lose momentum going into the next corner.”

White posted a seventh-place run to cap Friday’s action. She continued to run well on Saturday, winning a heat race and powering from sixth to third place in a qualifier. That ranked her as the high-points driver behind the four locked-in drivers from Friday’s main event.

“We’ve put ourselves in better starting positions,” she said. “Once you start in the back it’s tough to make up a bunch of positions. The mindset of being better early is how we were able to finish better.”

White battled for a top five throughout the feature before ending sixth, which is her best ASCS National Tour outing of the season.

“It’s a big track, but it races kind of like a short track,” she said.” It didn’t feel like a big track to me. They kept it racy both nights and it didn’t hurt any tires so that’s all you can ask for.”

White is scheduled to resume ASCS National Tour competition this Saturday and Sunday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo.

“The last time we weren’t very good the first night, but the second night we got better,” she said. “The track is fun and it’s a nice place. We always like going to places that are racy and stay good all night. I hope we can keep our momentum going and our top 10s rolling.”
