Inside Line Promotions – OSBORN, Mo. (May 1, 2019) – Robbie Price turned in one of his strongest showings of the season last Thursday during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour opener at Eagle Raceway.
"Last weekend gave us a lot to build on," he said. "It really feels good to have run so well and it's refreshing to feel like a true contender when you show up at the track with the caliber of competition out here."
The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour officially kicked off its 2019 campaign at the high-banked oval in Eagle, Neb. Although the end result doesn't reflect the effort, Price’s run has given him an extra boost of confidence moving forward. It all started with the first heat race of the season, which Price won.
He made the feature redraw and pulled the No. 2 to start on the outside of the front row in the main event. Price had a podium performance rolling throughout the race before a small error cost him the finish. He tapped the wall with the right front and flattened the tire in the closing laps. His run ended with 20th-place showing.
"We had a really good run going," he said. "I'm bummed for my guys that I couldn't complete the deal, but it gives us a lot of hope going into the rest of the year."
The series ventured to U.S. 36 Raceway on Friday. Price placed fifth in a heat race and fifth in the B Main to transfer into the main event. He capped the night by rallying from 21st to 15th in the A Main.
"The end results kind of messed us up in points already, but it's a long season," he said. "With some consistency and strong finishes well be right there in the mix before long."
The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour shifts to Central Pennsylvania this weekend with races on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg and on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove.
"I'm looking forward to getting back to Pennsylvania," Price said. "The competition over there is unreal and I'm hoping to do much better than I did last year."
