Joshua Shipley Records Fifth Straight Podium Finish at USA Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – TUCSON, Ariz. (April 30, 2019) – Joshua Shipley earned another podium result with the ASCS San Tan Ford Desert Sprint Cars last Saturday at USA Raceway.
The charge from 10th to third place marked his fifth consecutive top-three result.
“We had a really good weekend even though it didn’t start off good,” Shipley said. “The car was really fast, but I drew about an 83 pill so I started next to last in the heat race.”
After a little bit of a hang up at the start of the race, Shipley finally was able to clear himself to finish fifth in the heat race. That started him on the outside of the fifth row in the main event.
“I got stuffed in the wall on the first lap coming out of turn two,” he said. “I fell back a couple of spots and got sandwiched by a couple guys, which ended up spinning me around.”
Shipley had to go to the back of the field because he stopped on the race track. Once the race restarted, he decided to run the top and it was a smart decision.
“By the end of the race I was working on my brother for second place,” he said. “The car was really fast and I didn’t make any huge driver errors. It was a good night and we earned another top three. I can’t be too disappointed, especially since we’re still sitting second in points.”
Shipley, who ranks second in the championship standings, will return to action May 25-26 at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz., with the ASCS San Tan Ford Desert Sprint Car Series.
