Brian Brown Rebounds With Podium Result During LOS 360 Sprint Car Nationals Finale

Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Sept. 4, 2018) – Last weekend was a tale of two drastically different nights for Brian Brown, who raced in his home state.
Brown tackled the 9th annual LOS 360 Sprint Car Nationals at Lake Ozark Speedway, where the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event began on Saturday with Brown placing fourth in a heat race, 10th in a qualifier and third in a B Main – only one position shy of transferring to the main event.
“We don’t race the 360 really too often anymore,” he said. “We started off on Saturday with a good draw, but we weren’t that good. We didn’t get going in the heat and ended fourth. With the passing points system you have to produce and by us not doing that it put us toward the back of a qualifier. I tried to get going in the qualifier and ran over my buddy Jonathan Cornell. That was a driver error on my part and a missed opportunity. Then the B Main went non-stop and I couldn’t catch the two guys in front of me. It was disappointing.”
Brown returned to the oval on Sunday for the $10,000-to-win event finale, which he claimed in 2006. He opened the action by maneuvering from fifth to third place in a heat race before winning a qualifier from the third starting position. That lined Brown up on the outside of the fourth row for the 41-lap main event.
“We were up to sixth, back to 11th and then we got going on the bottom to finish on the podium,” he said. “Overall the biggest thing is I’m proud that nobody got down and got discouraged. It’s been a rough month for us. We haven’t had too many smooth nights where nothing has bit us in the butt. Sunday was a good night where we could work on our car.”
Brown’s car came alive during the second half of the race. As many drivers focused on the top lane, Brown carefully picked his way through the field by using the bottom of the track to his advantage.
“I found a line that would work real good around the bottom,” he said. “I got my car to work where nobody else was and was able to sneak by them.”
Brown capped the night with a third-place finish, which marked his 24th top five of the season.
The team is heading east this weekend with several marquee events on the horizon beginning this Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., for the Tuscarora 50 with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
“We really, really enjoyed ourselves last year,” he said. “We’re going to go night by night to see where we’re at. Any time you can go in there and race with the Pennsylvania Posse and you throw the All Stars in it it’s a tough field of cars. We’re really proud to come out of there last year winning two races. Plus, our engine builder Charlie Garrett is out there. The fans are great. They don’t like the Outlaws, but if you’re an outsider and come on your own will they support you. We’re really looking forward to racing out there.”
Brown will have apparel at each event.
