Inside Line Promotions – AMARILLO, Texas (June 12, 2018) – Scott Bogucki gained a ton of confidence after opening the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com Speedweek with a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend.
It began on Friday at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas, with a good pill draw.
“My crew guy, Dillon (Paddock), drew the No. 7 the first night and it put us on the pole for the heat, which we won,” he said. “He redrew the No. 7 for the feature and we ended up sixth. The next night he came back after pill draw and said he fired himself after pulling a No. 65.
“Actually Friday we ran up to fourth and got hung up on a lapped car. We got really, really, really loose and fell back to sixth, but it was a huge confidence builder.”
On Saturday the SawBlade.com backed team headed to Route 66 Motor Speedway, where Bogucki nursed a mishandling car to an eighth-place finish from his 14th starting position.
“I ran 20 laps with no Jacobs Ladder,” he said. “A pin broke so the rear end was moving around. It made quite a mess, but we were still able to pass some cars.”
It was a late night as rain caused more than a two-hour delay.
“I think we got out of there around 3 a.m. and thankfully my guys drove all the way to Dallas,” he said. “We got some rest on Sunday and did maintenance on the car Monday including having to change the torque tube from the Jacobs Ladder breaking.”
Speedweek resumes on Tuesday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. Earlier this year Bogucki recorded a 10th-place finish at the track.
“I never had a good feel about Devil’s Bowl until we raced there this spring,” he said. “We charged from 16th to sixth and then I packed a wheel full of mud and we fell back to a 10th-place finish.”
The remaining Speedweek races are Wednesday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla.; Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; and Saturday at Salina Speedway in Salina, Kan.
