Dover Produces Top Five With ASCS National Tour and Top 10 at Eagle Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (May 15, 2018) – Jack Dover extended his top-10 streak to six consecutive races thanks to a pair of top 10s last weekend.
Dover began the action on Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., where he piloted a sprint car owned by Chris Bowers during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event.
A charge from seventh to fourth place during a heat race earned enough overall points to advance into the feature redraw.
“After that heat race I thought we weren’t going to make it since we only got to fourth, but we were the last car to draw and ended up with the No. 1,” he said. “In that situation you hate being on the pole because you don’t know how to judge the track or where to run.”
Dover drew the pole position for the main event and he led the first lap before dropping to second on Lap 2.
“I cruised around in second most of the race behind Tony Stewart,” he said. “A red came out with a few laps to go. I looked down at my left rear tire and it was used up. The crew guys told me what to do and I told them we’d have to ride and hope for a top five because my left rear tire was toast.”
Dover was conservative for the final stage of the race and he ended with a fourth-place result.
“Overall it was a good night,” he said. “We fell back in positions, but considering the guys we were racing with and how little we race with them we were happy with a top five.”
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Eagle Raceway, where Dover drove his No. 53 race car with Chris Roseland’s engine during the 305ci winged sprint car race.
“It seemed like nobody else around the Midwest raced,” Dover said. “Roger worked the track as good as he could. It was heavy and rough. On those track conditions everyone is fast and we didn’t pass enough cars in the heat race.”
Dover advanced from ninth to seventh place during a heat race before he charged from 11th to third in the B Main to garner a transfer into the back of the main event. He capped the night by rallying from 19th to a ninth-place finish.
“We freed the car up a lot more for the feature and the car was pretty good,” he said. “I just didn’t want to press the issue of wrecking my car.”
Dover is scheduled to compete this Friday at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, with the Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Saturday at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints.
