BDS Motorsports wraps up 57th Annual Knoxville Nationals and now looks at returning to ASCS National Tour
Dupo, IL (August 16, 2017) While it may not have been the best year the BDS Motorsports team has had at the Knoxville Nationals, it also was not the worst. With Canadian driver, Thomas Kennedy, behind the wheel of the BDS Eagle Chassis machine, the team ran the C-main on Saturday night, but failed to qualify for the big show. This came after a good performance on his preliminary night, which saw him pick up a heat race win and finish 19th in the A-main. During the Nationals week, Thomas also ran the Capitani Classic on the Sunday before and ended the night with a 17th place in the main event. The Capitani Classic was Thomas’ first 410 race for BDS Motorsports and all in all, it kicked off a big week for the team.
Prior to the 410 Nationals, was Thomas’ run at the 360 Nationals. In 360 competition, Thomas finished 14th in the Saturday night A-main after getting up to as high as eighth before a late race caution. On his preliminary night, Thomas had a great start to the Nationals by finishing second in his heat race and fourth in the A-main event. After night one, he was sitting fourth in overall points. With high car counts and racing against the best of the best, Thomas and the BDS team had a pretty good Knoxville 360 Nationals weekend.
Moving past Knoxville, the team will return to the road with the ASCS National Tour this weekend in Sedalia, Missouri. A special Sunday night event being held in conjunction with the Missouri State Fair, California young gun, Giovanni Scelzi, will return to the seat of the BDS #1. Giovanni joined the team earlier in the season for a couple races out west and picked up a pair of second-place finishes during his first weekend in the car. The team looks forward to his return and is excited to announce that he will be in the car several more races this season.
