Beierle Continues Her Education in a Sprint Car During Debut at Lakeside
Inside Line Promotions – KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 16, 2017) – Andee Beierle has switched classrooms. She moved from a university building to the seat of a 360ci winged sprint car and is still learning.
Beierle piloted a BDS Motorsports entry during only her second sprint car race of the year last Thursday at Lakeside Speedway with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“Every track we will compete on is an entirely new experience for me,” she said. “I felt Lakeside went great. It was an awesome experience and at the end of the night we loaded the car in the trailer in one piece and we gathered a lot of helpful information. It was daunting when I rolled up to the track and saw Tony Stewart’s hauler. The ASCS is full of professional race car drivers who have been doing this for a long time.
“It’s hard to be truly competitive when I haven’t raced that much. But the BDS Motorsports guys always give me a great race car and I’m so appreciative for the opportunity.”
Beierle finished in the position she started – seventh – in her heat race. That relegated her to a B Main, in which she ended eighth.
“Just following these ASCS drivers … I learn so much,” she said. “This year is one big racing classroom for me. Every track we go to is new to me. But if you want to get better you have to hit the road and learn new tracks and new setups. I think it takes a least a season. I just need more seat time. I have so much to learn from these guys before I’m truly competitive.”
Beierle and the BDS Motorsports team will next compete May 27 at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Colo., and May 28 at Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke, Colo., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“While I’m still doing some work for school, my schedule is opening up to do more racing,” she said. “I look forward to the day when I don’t have to cut my racing schedule to pieces for school.
“I’m looking forward to these new tracks and what I can learn. That’s the beauty of spring car racing; it’s never just another dirt track. They’re all different. It’s going to be a fantastic journey.”
