Kulhanek Advances to Podium Finish with ASCS Gulf South at Battleground

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (Sept. 6, 2016) – Ray Allen Kulhanek maneuvered to a podium finish last Saturday at Battleground Speedway.

Kulhanek, who was driving for Bruce Griffith during the ASCS Gulf South Region event, opened the night by advancing from sixth to fifth place in a heat race.

“I just wasn’t very good in the heat race,” he said. “I’ve been struggling with the car trying to figure out what it needs and what I need. It’s been a slow progress of getting everything going in the direction that I need for it to.”

Kulhanek missed the feature redraw by only one position. That lined him up ninth for the main event.

“We made some changes for the main and we’re going a lot more in the right direction,” he said. “It’s more or less trying to get myself comfortable. The track wasn’t very good. We burned up two sets of tires. It made it tough to make progress, but we made good strides.”

Kulhanek rallied to a fourth-place result, but was credited with third after a fellow driver was disqualified.

He was scheduled to close the weekend on Sunday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, but the ASCS Gulf South Region event was rained out and will be made up this Saturday.
