Channin Tankersley Sweeps ASCS Gulf South Weekend with GTRP Victory

BEAUMONT, Texas (May 7, 2016) One win deserves another as Channin Tankersley parked the G3 Boats No. 14 in Victory Lane for the second time in as many nights with the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works; topping action at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas.

The win also netted Channin an extra $1,000 for the weekend sweep thanks to Challenger Drilling and Cooper Motorsports.

Channin’s 16th career ASCS Gulf South win, Tankersley was chased to the line by Aaron Reutzel, who led the first 23 rounds.

However, Aaron was disqualified for actions taken against another driver on the track following the checkered flag that were deemed to be unsportsmanlike conduct. Further action from the American Sprint Car Series is currently under review.

With the disqualification, that moved John Carney II to the runner-up spot with Jacob Lucas credited with third. Seth Bergman was fourth with Ray Allen Kulhanek completing the top-five. J.J. Simmons, Zane Lawrence, Travis Ellott, Dustin Gates, and Michael McNeil made up the top-ten.

The Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works goes at it again with the 14th annual Memorial Day Classic, happening May 27-29 with stops at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas on Friday, May 29 followed by the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas on Saturday, May 28, and finally the Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas on Sunday, May 29.
