Inside Line Promotions – SALINA, Kan. (June 23, 2015) – The season debut for Mark Burch Motorsports ended early last Friday at Salina Speedway.
Danny Lasoski had piloted the sprint car inside the top 10 during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour main event before a mechanical problem derailed the team during the opening laps.
“We hadn’t even started racing yet,” he said. “We ran a couple of laps and it was like you shut the key off.”
Lasoski was running 10th on the tricky track where real estate was coveted when the engine shut off going down the backstretch on Lap 5. The team was unable to diagnose and fix the problem in the work area before the race resumed, which ended with Mark Burch Motorsports being credited 19th.
“Mark and the crew changed the spark box and that wasn’t what it was,” Lasoski said. “It turns out we had a pin break in the mag generator. Sometimes a $1.50 part will take you out. That’s just part of racing.”
The night began with a high pill draw, which lined Lasoski up on the inside of the fourth row for a heat race. He picked up a pair of positions to garner a fifth-place result, which locked the team into the 11th starting position for the main event.
“I think we would have been a top-three car, but it just didn’t fall our way,” he said.
