Inside Line Promotions – BELLEVILLE, Kan. (June 3, 2015) – Jack Dover earned his first Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour podium finish in more than two years last Sunday at Belleville High Banks.

Dover scored a heat race win before posting a third-place result during the inaugural ASCS National Tour feature at the high-banked track, which marked his first podium with the premier 360ci sprint car series since winning the Steve King Memorial on May 25, 2013.

“Our goal was to win, but you can’t be upset about finishing on the podium during an ASCS National Tour race,” he said. “We had a good car all night. You need a lot of motor at Belleville and Moss Racing Engines delivered for us.”

Dover opened the night by winning his heat race from the pole position. It was his sixth heat race win during eight races this season. That earned him a spot in the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 6 to line up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“We got up to third right away and took second on Lap 3 or 4,” he said. “We had a car capable of winning, but Aaron Reutzel took advantage of the clean air and then Brian Brown was strong at the end.”

Brown passed Dover on a restart with 10 laps remaining en route to the victory. Dover’s third-place result was his fourth top five of the season.

The weekend kicked off last Saturday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., for the Hinchman Racewear Eagle Nationals – a marquee ASCS National Tour race Dover won in 2011.

The event began with Dover winning his heat race after starting on the pole, which locked him into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 2 to start the main event on the outside of the front row.

“We had high expectations going into the feature,” he said. “We had a fast car and a great starting position, but the track didn’t work out in our favor. It usually slicks off up to the wall to create a lot of slide jobs. On Saturday the track got heavier as the night went on because of all the rain the area has been getting.”

That created a rough track for Dover, who lost a few positions during the first half of the race before battling back to finish fourth.

“It was tough to pass out there,” he said. “We were all over the third-place driver the final few laps, but just couldn’t make a move. A top five with the ASCS National Tour is good, but we were expecting a win.”

Dover is scheduled to take this weekend off before competing on June 12 at U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, Mo., with the ASCS Warrior Region and on June 13 at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., and June 14 at Dawson County Raceway in Lexington, Neb., with the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints.
