Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (April 14, 2015) – Derek Hagar will make his debut at Randolph County Raceway this Saturday during the inaugural Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at the half-mile track.

“We’re usually pretty fast when we go to a new race track,” he said. “I guess it’s because you don’t know what works and what won’t so you’ll try anything. Sometimes when you go to a new race track you might hit on something that nobody else finds and you can use it to your advantage.”

Hagar has faced as many rainouts as races this season, which has made it difficult to get into a rhythm.

“Whenever we’ve started racing in February in the past we’ve had a lot more races by this time of the year,” he said. “The weather has canceled quite a few races so far. Hopefully the weather will turn around and we can start racing every week.”

Hagar is coming off his first top five of the season in his most recent race, when he advanced from 12th to fifth at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., on April 4.

While another top five would mean a good night, Hagar is aiming for a victory this Saturday.

“I’m going out there to win the race,” he said. “We’ve had a real slow start to the season. It doesn’t feel near as good as the last couple of years. We have to go out there with a good mindset and click off some good laps. Hopefully the track gets slick and we can do some slide jobs and have some good racing.”
